Château
Tronquoy Lalande
A « jewel » in the heart of Saint-Estèphe
Located in the heart of the Saint-Estèphe appellation, Château Tronquoy-Lalande is renowned to have one of the oldest and most beautiful terroirs of the appellation. Its vineyard covers 30 hectares in a single block around the château.
In 2006, a few months after the acquisition of Château Montrose, Martin et Olivier Bouygues discovered this “jewel” and launched a major renovation programme to renovate the vineyard and the estate buildings, marking the start of a new era in the property’s history.
The teams strive to work with precision on this terroir, made up of deep clay-gravel soils overlooking the Gironde and are committed, since 2015, the in a global environmental approach, in line with Château Montrose, which is very progressive in this field.
2020 marks an important stage in this approach with the transition of the entire vineyard to a sustainable viticulture, respectful of the terroir and of people.
The property produces a red wine typical of its appellation, with melted tannins and spicy aromas, to which richness gives a well-marked style.
Since 2011, 1.8 ha of the vineyard in the upper part of the plateau on the estate has been used to make a white wine, Château Tronquoy-Lalande Blanc. This white wine, a highly elegant one, has a genuine personality that expresses white blossoms and citrus notes.
